An Anomaly Over Mars

Phobos Moon R&D Base, 2086

The trooper had been among those who warned the scientists. But he was a grunt,
‘obsessed’ with the ‘minutiae’ of security.

Now, everyone but him was dead. The things that walked as men and the things
that used to be men now sought his death along with things that shouldn’t
even exist. He had read some of the scientists’ secret memos. They made no
sense.

*Iconian portal artifact confirmed. Bringing Lord Ghidorah to this quadrant
early will be ridiculously easy.*

It was the floating ball-heads, each armed and armored like the ancient Norad
site, that set his nerves on edge the worst. But at last a lull came, and he
managed to contact Earth. No help was coming, but at least he could make them
aware.

“Trooper, what is happening up there?”

The trained warrior looked around. Whatever an Iconian or a Lord Ghidorah was,
he didn’t like them one bit. With not much time, he summed it all up in one
word : 

“Doom.”
