"And that's how I ended up here, Captain," Data said without
a trace of embarrassment.

Captain Picard sat down and tried to suppress the rage he
felt building within him.  He knew he would have to choose
his words carefully and say them calmly; it wouldn't do to
explode in front of the bridge crew.

And, he reluctantly admitted to himself, Data's explanation
had, in its way, been perfectly logical.  Bizarre and
hopelessly convoluted, but logical.

Exhaling slowly, he finally said, "I understand, Mr. Data,
and I'm not upset with you, but could you please climb down
off my head?"
