A Lack of Foresight

"And that's how I ended up here, Captain."

Benjamin Sisko considered the dishevelled figure before him, still
being supported by two Starfleet marines. The senior marine passed a
package to Deep Space Nine's commanding officer. "He was hangin' on to 
this like his life depended on it when we broke up the riot, sir."

Accepting the package, Sisko placed it carefully on the desk. "Thank 
you, Sergeant," he replied. "That'll be all." The marines saluted,
then turned and left the office. As the door /shusshed/ closed behind 
them, Ben's unexpected visitor collapsed wearily into a chair. A slow 
grin spread across Sisko's face.

"Julian," he said, "when are you going to learn to get your Christmas 
shopping done early?"
