He'd had a rather rough night, after having a bit too much to drink at Quark's Halloween party. He didn't have to be at the infirmary for another hour, he could easily catch a few more winks before he left. He was awakened by the comm panel beside his bed. "Bashir here." "Doctor? Is everything alright?" one of his nurses asked. Confused, Julian answered, "Yes. Why do you ask?" "Because you were supposed to be here twenty minutes ago." Twenty minutes ago?! "I'm sorry. I must have slept in. I'll be there shortly." He could hear the smile in her voice as she replied, "Don't worry, we've got everything under control. See you soon." Julian fell back against his pillows. He'd been more tired than he'd thought. As he dragged himself out of bed and headed for the shower, he swore he'd never spend half the night at Quark's again. After a quick shower, Julian was dressed and heading out the door. As he approached the door, he noticed a piece of paper attached to the door. Now how did this get here? Picking it up, he noticed it wasn't just any piece of paper, it was a piece of rolled parchment. Curiosity getting the better of him, he unrolled it. It said: "A stolen kiss, From one unknown. If you wish, For the name to be shown, Return to the place of bliss, And all will be made known." Intrigued by the idea, Julian tapped his comm badge. "Bashir to Infirmary. I'm going to be a bit later than I thought." For it being so early in the morning, Quark's was awfully busy. Gamblers and alcoholics seemed to have no set clock. Julian easily slipped through the crowds around the Dabo tables and toward the back room. Glancing at the bar, he noticed Quark was occupied with a customer and probably wouldn't see if he quickly stepped in the back room. When he did, he found a parchment on the wall. It said: "Go now to where you should be, At this hour of the day. And at the hour of one-three, Be on your way, For your cup of tea." Sighing, Julian put the parchment in his pocket and went to the infirmary. The morning kept him busy and from thinking about his secret admirer. Before he knew it, it was past thirteen hundred hours. He left the infirmary in the hands of his staff and hurried to the replimat. The reference to tea had to mean the replimat. When he arrived, he glanced around but saw nothing out of the ordinary. He walked around and when he passed his and Garak's usual table, he noticed a piece of parchment on the table. Obviously this person knew his routine. He didn't know whether to be flattered or scared that someone knew that much about him. Sitting down, he read it: "Go back, my dear, To where you were before, When the day's end is here, Return to your door, And you will me near." Disappointed that he was no closer to an answer, Julian returned to the infirmary. When his shift was over, he returned to his quarters. Attached to his door was another roll of parchment and a red rose. He unrolled the parchment. This time, the poem was very simple: "Do not fear, Enter, I am here." Julian hesitated. This person was in his quarters? How did they get in? Should he go in? They couldn't actually be in his quarters. They were probably just waiting nearby for him to enter. He slowly entered his quarters and found no one there. Instead, he found a package on the table. He sat down and opened it. Inside was a pair of beautifully hand-sewn black and white satin pajamas. Laughing to himself at the gift, he started to put them back in the box when he noticed a piece of parchment in the bottom of the box. It said: "Black and white, Opposites true, But what delight, Come from the two, Together tonight." This poem, like the others, had given him absolutely no idea who his admirer was. The pajamas were what truly confused him. The only person who could have . . . It couldn't be, could it? Was it. . . The doors of his quarters opened. "Garak!" "Yes, dear Doctor, it is I." Julian had no idea that his friend had these feelings for him. Truthfully, he found the idea rather intriguing. Julian held up the pajamas. "Thank you. They're beautiful." Garak moved to sit beside him. "I had to get something to replace those awful cotton things you insist on wearing." Smiling, Julian asked, "Garak, how long have you-?" Once again, he was silenced by a kiss.
