Summary: Tom Paris is looking forward to a future "ride". ~ ~ ~ ~ Among Shining Stars Blackness. The quiet depth of the endless space. Brightly shining stars. A nebular. An asteroid field... Tom could see all of that, was absorbing it and simply couldn't get enough. What a scenery, he thought, overwhelmed by the beauty, while the pilot in him just wanted to take a ride in the flyer, experiencing this in his own special way. The stars seemed to sparkle only for him and he was drawn towards them. Tom kept on gazing. All his other senses more or less stopped working as he took in the picture with heart and soul. He wanted to remember this in every little detail. The nebular caught his attention now. Warm, brown tones met his eyes and a soft feeling of security washed over him at the sight. Of course, there was a chance one could get lost in a nebular, but once one knew the terrain... Tom believed he would find his way around quite well. He focused on something else, the slightly lighter brown asteroids in front of the nebula this time. Could get bumpy, it shot through his mind. But was that enough to deter him from trying to enjoy himself? Of course not. It made it even more attractive. A challenge. And he simply couldn't resist challenges... His mind continued it's journey, his heart jumping with delight at the thought of how much fun he would have flying among these shining stars. It was funny somehow. Tom had loved flying as long as he could think and still, with each passing day, his passion for it seemed to grow stronger and stronger. "Tom?" Reality called him. He could feel them looking at him, his friends, his colleagues, the captain... and B'Elanna, all waiting for him to speak. He didn't blink, he didn't move. He didn't dare to, simply wanted to hold on to this moment forever. B'Elanna smiled at him, her warm, brown eyes somehow becoming even brighter, and the lights that were reflected in them sparkling even more. Tom was still lost in his fascination as his mouth opened automatically, the words flowing smoothly over his lips. They came to him naturally, as if they'd been waiting to be spoken for all of his life. He could already see himself among the shining stars... "I will." ~ FIN ~ -- -= Professional Dreamer=- Far beyond the midnight's sky... Space and time just rushing by... I stand apon a distant shore...
