Summary: Response to a Rob Morris challenge:  Adapt a really good line
heard on TV or in movies to a short fic.

Jean Luc Picard sat fuming in his command chair aboard the Enterprise
E.   They
were in orbit about Randichar VII.  In less than 15 minutes the entire
senior
staff would have to beam down to the planet to attend the formal state
dinner
hosted by the Federation ambassador, welcoming Randichar into the
Federation. 
The problem was that the Randicharians were sticklers for appearance,
particularly on state occasions.  Even the slightest wrinkle or an out
of place
crease in a trouser was considered the ultimate insult.  Only a few
years ago a
six month war had been waged over an alien ambassador inadvertently
displaying
a loose thread before the Randicharian Consul.

Unfortunately for Jean Luc, he had just ripped his dinner jacket after
trying
it on, apparently having put on a few extra pounds.  To make matters
worse, the
replicators were down now, infected with some sort of alien computer
virus. 
Geordi was giving it top priority but was no where near solving the
problem by
the deadline.  The only other option was Data.  Picard called on the
comm
system.

"Bridge to Mr. Data!  We're running out of time.  What sort of
progress are you
making down there?"

Data replied from the cargo bay.  "The Randacharian Auto-Tailor is a
simple
mechanism in theory Captain, but is subject to frequent breakdowns due
to the
fragile alloys utilized in its construction.  This usually poses no
problem for
most Randacharian garments, which are quite flimsy, but for more
durable
clothing, such as your dinner jacket  ..."

"Get to the point Data"

‘Yes, sir.  The Auto-Tailor is broken.  Without a replicator we are
unable to
reproduce the necessary replacement parts.  I am attempting to remove
the
needle and intend to directly attach the computer stitch guide to it
through an
ODN relay cable which will supply power while my hand serves as a
substitute
control mechanism.  Once that is accomplished, I should be able to
repair your
jacket, although I will first have to do a series of test runs on
similar
fabrics to ensure that there will be no errors."

Picard groaned and eyed the chronometer on the bridge.  Less than
thirteen
minutes before they would be forced to beam down.  The command that he
barked
out was one Data had heard many times  but never before with such
urgency.

"Just make it sew, Mr. Data, make it sew!"
