VEILS

Spock led a cloaked figure forward. "She is the bride you have
selected?" asked Sarek sternly.

"This is my chosen mate."

*She is shy,* thought Sarek, observing the dark hood that showed
nothing.

*She is broad-shouldered,* thought Amanda, wondering if she was
athletic.

*This is ridiculous,* thought Kirk from underneath the fabric.

Spock thought about how nice it would be to be married and leaving
Vulcan.

And T'Pau knew exactly what was happening, but kept silent. It would
be best if nobody else said anything, either--after all, it was
scandal that should be avoided, not necessarily the union itself.
