(Inspired by a recent conversation with either Hypatia Kosh, or Kat...I can't remember who! >.<) The two lovers snuggled in bed, relishing their time together. Alpine Arcticfox draped his body over Data's and the two shared a kiss before the vulpinoid's muzzle gradually left Data's lips and started a trail of kisses down the android's neck, chest and stomach. Data closed his eyes and sighed deeply, lost in the feeling. The fox nuzzled Data's belly lovingly...and then stopped. "Data?" Alpine spoke up suddenly. Data opened his eyes. "Yes Alpine?" "You have a belly button." Data propped himself up on his elbows and glanced down at his stomach, before gazing back up at Alpine, perplexed. "Yes..I do. Have you not noticed this before?" Alpine chuckled. "Of course I have, silly! But I've never understood why you have one!" Data sat up fully and examined his stomach more closely. "My creator, Dr. Soong, wished for me to resemble a human male in every aspect. I suppose the addition of a navel falls into part of the resemblance." Alpine nodded slowly. "Makes sense, I suppose. It's still odd though. I mean..a belly button is basically the remains of an umbilical cord...which is something I know you have never had." The fox looked back up at Data and cocked his head. "Does it have any purpose at all? Did your creator use it as a port or an outlet of any kind?" Data shook his head. "No. It does not serve any function whatsoever." Alpine nodded again, absently scritching his claws softly against Data's chest. "Weird. "You'd think your creator would be innovative enough to actually have some sort of purpose or function behind your belly button!" A look of slight distress crept over the android's face. He had never paid much attention to that particular part of him before. Suddenly, the addition of a belly button and lack of purpose thereof made him feel awkward, and even less human-like instead of more so! Alpine caught the concern in Data's eyes and shook his head with a reassuring smile before drawing his lover into a warm hug. "I wouldn't worry about it, hon," he said warmly. "It was just a speculation. Besides...I can think of a good use for it!" Data cocked his head, curious. "You can?" Alpine nodded slyly, lowering his head to Data's stomach. "Yup.. After all, most buttons, when pushed, cause a reaction. I doubt this will be an exception, especially when I do this.." He licked at Data's navel a few times before softly nibbling it in just the right way, thus causing the android to arch his back with a soft cry of pleasure and fall back against the pillows. "Bingo," murmured Alpine with a grin as the two resumed their intimate time together. Fin [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
