Ridley awoke, unsure as to why.  He recalled no dreams and heard
nothing except the dull hum of the ship.  For a moment he was unsure
of where he was, but when his gaze met the sleeping Hoshi Sato next to
him, he recalled everything.
"Good morning," he smiled at Hoshi and yawned.  He stretched his one
arm over his head and then kissed her on the cheek.  Without moving
his face any farther away from her, he slid his lips across her face
and slowly moved them on top of hers.  They were warm and full, and
Ridley pressed deeply into them, separating his lips slightly.  He
rolled out of her bed and stood in the middle of the room.
He looked at Hoshi's computer console he realized that he had been
sleeping for over twelve hours.  He suddenly felt wide awake and
walked into his host's bathroom.
He looked around for a toothbrush, knowing full well that he'd have
to use hers.  He approached the sink and slid the door half shut
behind him as he turned on the bathroom's lights.  They were soothing,
replicating the feeling of the morning sun coming in through a window.
He opened the cabinet next to the sink and shuffled through a few
person items before setting his eyes on the toothbrush.  He briefly
looked at himself in the mirror, then shifted his gaze downward into
the sink.
When he was done brushing his teeth and washing his face, he felt the
rumble of an empty stomach.  He walked back to the computer console
and called up the ship's blueprints.  The mess hall wasn't that far
away.
He walked over to Hoshi's sleeping body and bent over for another
kiss.  He used one hand to arch her chin.  "I'm not sure why I keep
kissing you," he told her, more to make himself feel better about what
he was doing.  "But thanks for letting me.  I'll be back soon."

As luck would have it, the only other conscious person on the ship
was also in the mess hall, watching some kind of ancient Earth movie
with the volume turned up pretty loud.  Ridley managed to sneak into
the mess hall and around to the kitchen area where he located some
fruit, vegetables, and some rice.  He ate as quietly as he could, but
when he went to get a napkin he brushed up against something which
shifted position, sending a rumble throughout the kitchen.  He stood
still, hoping the Doctor didn't hear him.
"Computer, mute sound."
Dammit!  Ridley's breathing increased and the blood flowed to his ear
as he wondered what to do.  The mess hall was completely silent now. 
Whatever it was that he had brushed up against was now returning to
it's original position, and as it did so it made another loud clanking
noise that resonated through the mess hall.
"That doesn't sound normal, does it?"  The Doctor asked to an unknown
person, maybe just himself.  "I suppose we should uh, investigate,
huh?"
His heart continued to race.  He quickly looked around, sure that the
Doctor would appear at any moment, curious as to what it was making
all the noise in the kitchen.  He noticed a door a few feet behind him
and darted for it as quietly as he could.  It slid open and he was in
a corridor.  He ran as fast as he could down the hall and into a room
which appeared to be some kind of cargo bay.
As he shut the door to the cargo bay behind him, the room was almost
completely dark.  He was able to notice a catwalk above him, and when
he heard the Doctor's voice right outside the door he made for the
ladder that went up to it.  In his hurry, he ran into some cargo bins,
making another loud clanking noise, as well as sending a shooting pain
up his leg.
The door slid open.
"Hello?"  The figure announced.  "It's Dr. Phlox."
Ridley slowly tried to maneuver his way backwards, keeping his gaze
on Dr. Phlox who appeared to have a small dog trailing his every move.
 Not paying attention to where he was going, he backed up into a sharp
object which sounded as if it broke.  Hot steam began to erupt from
it.
Ridley made a noise and decided to run for the door on the other side
of the room.  The dog barked as he bolted across the catwalk, not even
waiting for the door to open completely before he got out and closed
it again.
He found himself outside of main engineering, the same place he was
the day before, except naked.
He stepped inside, locked the door, and spent the better part of the
day inside, doing whatever research he could involving what exactly
was happening.

At 2100 hours the door to Ensign Sato's quarters slid open and Ridley
stepped in.  He found her exactly as he left her, sleeping in the same
position.
"Hi Hoshi," he smiled, "I'm home."
He took a seat on his knees, to the side of the bed.  He reached up
and took Hoshi's hand.  Loosing support, her other hand fell to her
side.
"I had a busy day today, friend."  He smiled again, comforted by the
fact that he was talking to someone.  "Lonely day, but busy.  I
actually found out a lot.  And your damn Doctor Phlox always seemed to
be on my trail.  I think he's talking to himself, because I witnessed
him carry on a conversation with someone he called 'T'Pol' today as I
hid.  The loneliness must be getting to him, too."
He sighed.  "He seems like a nice enough guy.  Truthfully, I wanted
to talk to him.  See if he could help.  But I knew I shouldn't."
He let go of Hoshi's hand and it fell to her side.  He sat next to
her, his hand cradling the side of her face.  "The good news is, I
think I found out what happened.  I must have been knocked out in my
quarters in the future at the exact time your ship was occupying the
same space, two hundred years ago.  Because of the spatial distortions
that are occurring right now, in your time, something happened and my
consciousness was pulled back."  He peered out the window.  "It's a
good thing it happened when your ship was here, otherwise I could be
floating in space right now."
He stood up, taking off the lavender tank top.  "I'm still not sure
of how to get back, but if I'm in some kind of temporal bubble, which
I think I am, I might get pulled back whenever my future self wakes
up."
"Which means," he walked into the bathroom, his slacks dropping to
his feet, "That I'm not even sure if I'm a solid being right now, or
just a corporeal entity, wandering around your ship."
He reached into Hoshi's shower and turned it on.  He waited a moment
for the hot water to start flowing.  Steam began to flood into the
small room as Ridley shut the bathroom door.  He was accustomed to the
sonic showers of the future, but whenever he could he always preferred
to take a real shower.  The hot water against his skin always soothed
him much more than a sonic shower ever could.
He stepped into the shower and let the water beat against his naked
body.  He slowly moved his head so that his hair was being saturated,
then turned around and let the water massage his neck.  Being in
engineering all day, craned over a console, had definitely tensed him
up.
When he finished bathing, he stood in the shower for some time,
inhaling the steam.  He thought of his Hoshi using the same shower,
standing naked where he stood.  She was lying just feet away from him
on the other side of the wall.
His heart began to beat faster as he thought of what he found out in
engineering.  The crew was put to sleep in order to protect their
brain from the radiation, but they could survive for about an hour or
two if they needed to, before any serious damage resulted.
What if he woke Hoshi up?
It would be going against the temporal general order, as well as
risking Hoshi's health, but he was confident that she may not even
remember much of it when she really did wake up.  Ridley had read the
doctor's report and apparently the crew would be really groggy when
they first woke up, and if they were put right back under again, the
person wouldn't even remember anything happening.
Should I do it?
Ridley stepped out of the shower and toweled himself off.  He let the
shower run, enjoying the steam being produced from the ship's
unwavering supply of hot water.
What the hell.
