Summary:After the Delta Flyer incident,Tom goes to check up on B'Elanna and 
It had started after a probe of the lost Federation starship USS 
Voyager(NCC-74656)has been pursued by a Malon ship into a gas giant and the ship's 
commanding officer,Captain Kathryn Janeway had ordered the Delta Flyer,a 24th-Century 
'hot rod' which was designed and constructed by Lt. Tom Paris,to be launched 
into the gas giant,in order to retrieve the probe.

But while the rest of the crew were still working on the Delta Flyer's 
construction,another crew member named Lt. B'Elanna Torres has activated a holodeck 
simulation of battle with a race of beings known as the Cardassians in which 
she has disengaged the safety protocols twice--the second time had resulted in 
Torres being knocked unconscious and taken by her fellow crewmate,Commander 
Chakotay to sickbay,where the Doctor has discovered some old wounds that had 
gone untreated.

And after Chakotay had discovered that she has been running very dangerous 
holo-simulations without the safety protocols,he has gone to confront B'Elanna 
with his findings,only to have her admit that she has been testing herself in 
an attempt to try to experience an emotion or feel pain,for ever since they had 
recieved a message from Starfleet that their Maquis friends had been 
slaughtered,the only thing that B'Elanna had felt was numb.

Fortuntely for her fellow shipmates,B'Elanna was able to pull herself 
together long enough to create an ingenious device to trap the incoming gas in a 
containment field and allowed the Delta Flyer to return with the probe inside her 
cargo hold to Voyager safely.

And then,after the Delta Flyer crew had delivered the probe to one of its 
engineers for study,they and the rest of the Voyager crew had assumed that 
B'Elanna was on her way of feeling whole again.

However,that was exactly not the case,for as soon as Tom had walked into 
B'Elanna's private quarters and saw her standing in front of the cabin window and 
staring silently at the many stars in the cosmos,he had walked over to 
her,placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and asked,"B'Elanna,are you going to be 
okay?"

Then,after she had heard that question,a teary-eyed B'Elanna had looked at a 
caring Tom,took a deep breath and answered,"I don't know,Tom.I really don't 
know.I mean,I've tried to experience feeling pain and loss through the 
holo-simulations without any success.And then,when I've suddenly found myself faced 
with a real-life situation like the one we've just faced in the Delta Flyer,I've

out,an understanding Tom had lifted B'Elanna's head up to his and 
said,"Look,B'Elanna.Sometimes,we all could get confused over what we want in life.But as 
long as you're with such good friends like me and everybody else on board this
