"Hello Kathryn," Chakotay smiled at Janeway, as though
he had been away overnight. "Hello lover," he said in
a deep, throaty voice, as he turned to Tom. "I hope we
can soon make up for lost time." 

Janeway watched amazed as Tom fainted and Harry who
had just recovered joined Tom on the floor in another
dead faint. 

"Have I permission to come on board, Kathryn. It's
been a while and I'll like to come home." 

"Bring your craft in to shuttle bay one and we'll
meet you there." The channel closed and Janeway
turned to Ayala. "Get a small security detail down
there. Tuvok you're with me." She looked around her,
at the stunned faces of her crew, at Paris and Kim,
who were just standing up. "Someone, anyone, inform
the doctor of our unexpected guest. I want all senior
staff in the briefing room in 30 minutes. Lieutenant
you have the bridge." 

When Tom began to argue that he should be there to
meet Chakotay, Janeway raised her hand. "Look Tom, we
don't know if he is the real Commander, he certainly
doesn't act like him. He's changed not only in looks.
I don't think the real Commander would have greeted
us as casually as that man. Let's get him checked out
and then discuss what we are going to do." Janeway
looked from Tom to Harry, both looked a little green
around the gills.

When Chakotay stepped out of the shuttle, Janeway knew
straightaway that there was something fundamentally
different about this man who claimed to be her First
Officer. Chakotay had always been a handsome, well
built man, in an understated way. Now he looked like
he had been working out, his chest was powerful,
causing his shirt to strain, giving him a look of
sheer strength. His hair and the earring gave him a
roguish, half menacing look, reminding Janeway of an
image from a pirate holonovel. He held himself with a
determination and force she hadn't seen since his
Maquis days and sexuality and charisma radiated from
him. He'd never flaunted his looks, and apart from a
few dalliances and Tom, he had kept himself to
himself. But as he walked towards them, Janeway felt
he was the most powerful, beautiful person she had
ever seen. Then he smiled at her, a full smile with
shining eyes and seductive dimples and then grabbed
her and hugged her to him. Then holding her face he
gave her a passionate kiss on the lips. Janeway was
startled, startled and aroused. But her logic kicked
in, the old Chakotay would never have dared to do that
in front of other people, she wasn't too sure that he
would even dare do it in private.

"Commander," she thought she would keep it on an
official level till she knew what the full story was. 
"I hope you don't mind if we get you checked out by
the doctor. Then we would like to hear your story. 
The welcome home party will have to wait, I'm sure you
understand." 

Janeway was a little nervous how he would take this
but he instantly put her at ease with a little smile
and a nod. Chakotay and the security team transported
to sickbay as Tuvok and the Captain made their way
back to the bridge

Janeway cast a glance over her senior staff. Harry,
Tom and B'Elanna looked shaken, Nelix was excited and
nervous and dependable Tuvok, his usually calm self. 
"Would anyone like to comment on recent events?"
Janeway looked at Tom. 

"If it's Chakotay, he's changed, not just in
appearance but also his behaviour. I would proceed
with caution Captain. I cannot imagine the Commander
we know being so public with Mr Paris and so cavalier
with you," Tuvok opened the discussion.

Janeway nodded, "agreed." 

B'Elanna continued. "If it is Chakotay, how's he going
to take the news of their marriage," she nodded
towards Tom and Harry. 

"One step at a time, B'Elanna," Janeway looked at
Tom. "Anything to add Tom?" 

"I'm sorry, I just don't know what to say. I'm
stunned. I can't take it in, that Chakotay could
really be alive." If Tom looked scared half to death,
Harry looked petrified. 

They were interrupted by the doctor on the view
screen. 

"Go ahead doctor, what have you found out?"

"It's the Commander alright and it's our Commander
from our timeline. But, there are some fundamental
differences in his brain wave pattern, his memory and
his personality." 

"Yes, we noticed some changes, can you be more
specific doctor." 

"The commander appears to be having trouble with his
memory, though that problem seems to be healing itself
at the moment. He has only partial memory of his time
on Voyager, most of these memories seem to be centred
on Mr Paris. He is having difficulty remembering the
recent past altogether. His testosterone levels are
through the roof and preliminary tests show that this
as been caused by some kind of treatment that was
deliberately administered to him. More tests need to
be done to ascertain fully what changes the Commander
has gone through. So far he hasn't said much about
where he has been, his memory of his time away from us
seems to be eluding him. Personality wise, he's more
relaxed, less formal, outgoing even, and very, how can
I put this, sexual. Within 5 minutes he had my nurse
positively flush with arousal and within another 5
minutes he was actively trying to seduce one of
Ayala's men. Sorry," the Doctor gave a sympathetic
glance at Tom. 

The pilot just shrugged, trying to contain all the
confusing thoughts that were running through his mind.


"I'll need to do more tests to find out fully what
the changes entail and the consequences," the doctor
added.

"Well it's good news that he's back, we'll deal with
any problems after he's told us what happened to him,"
the Captain stood to make her way to sickbay. 

"Captain," the doctor interrupted. "It's not quite
that simple, the Commander says he has only been away
3 months, when I informed him it had been 3 years, I
had to sedate him." 

Janeway turned her head at a gasp to her right. Tom
was shaking. "What's the matter Tom?" The Captain
walked over to Tom and put a reassuring hand on his
shoulder. 

"Don't you see, he'll think I've betrayed him,
betrayed him again. He thinks he's been away twelve
week and he comes back and I'm ready to marry another
man. What's he going to thing, what am I going to
say?" 

The Captain squeezed his shoulder. "It's not twelve
weeks, Tom it's been 3 years, don't forget that. You
deserve happiness as much as anybody else. I'm sure
when things settle Chakotay will understand that." 

Tom turned to Harry and reached for his hand. 
Harry's attention was all on Tom. "Tom, please tell
me this doesn't make a difference to us, please?" 
Harry's voice was shaking. "No Harry, this makes no
difference, I love you, this won't change a thing."
