Summary: The captain breaks the bad news to the The captain breaks the bad news to the Commander "Doctor, transport yourself and the Commander to visitor's room 10a, I'll meet you there. B'Elanna you're with me, he may need a friend. Tom I'll explain the situation regarding you and Harry. If you want a private word with him you can see him later when we know how he handles the news. I'll speak to you when I've finished. Everyone dismissed." Janeway and B'Elanna found Chakotay just waking up. His shirt had been removed and both women looked over the glistening, well-muscled chest, took in the long, flowing hair and the sensuous mouth. He opened his eyes, and gave both women a slow sensual smile, locking his eyes, first with the Captain then with his old friend. He slowly arose from the bed, languidly stretching his muscles. "Let's talk in the other room, we'll be more comfortable," he smiled again and moved into the other room, not attempting to get dressed. Both women found it unsettling but B'Elanna noted that the Captain hadn't asked him to put his shirt on. "I don't know where to begin, I'm still in shock that I have found you. My memory of events is a bit confused, the doctor says my memories have been tampered with." Chakotay paused and stretched out his muscles again, causing B'Elanna and Janeway to glance away, scared of their reaction. "I vaguely remember leaving Voyager and the shuttle getting in trouble. Some people came to help me and then my memory blanks out for. I recall being with people and belonging to someone, but I can't remember who. Then something happened and I ended up drifting in space. About a week ago memories of Voyager started to come back to me and then I received a message from someone I had known on the planet giving me information on how to open a wormhole and get back to Voyager. I can't tell you much else because everything is confused in my head. I remember Tom, but then another face comes into my head and replaces Tom. I see Voyager and then another place, somewhere else I call home takes over. "Don't worry Chakotay, the doctor says you should recover your memory or most of it, through time. The important thing is you are back with us and well." Janeway reached over and took his hand, squeezing it with relief and affection. "Chakotay, you know it's been three years, next week, since you were lost, you accept that don't you?" He nodded to the Captain in reply. "Things have changed a little, things have moved on, you must understand that". She watched his face but it stayed composed, unemotional. "Is this about Tom, Captain? I've noticed he's not actually rushed to see me." Janeway caught a flicker of emotion go across his face, before he gathered himself again. "I'm afraid that was my idea, he was devastated went you went missing. He had to be sedated when we moved off. Please understand he mourned for a year." The captain held his gaze, willing him to understand. "Who is it?" his face remained calm, friendly, unsurprised. 'Well this is going better than I thought,' Janeway mused to herself. Taking a deep breath, "Harry" and before Chakotay could comment she rushed on. "He comforted him and the relationship developed slowly. He's made Tom happy again. Please don't begrudge him that. They plan to marry next week." Something flashed across the Commander's face but then the dependable smile was back. "Captain, I don't resent Tom anything. I have the deepest regard for him and always will but I can see it's over, there's no blame, no fault. Now if you don't mind I would like to be alone for a while. I need time to put my thoughts in order, three years gone and Tom ready to marry, it will take a little time to adjust. It wasn't quite what I was expecting when I saw Voyager again." "Chakotay you rest and we'll discuss the next steps tomorrow. It's good to have you back, everyone has missed you so much." As she was leaving, Janeway turned. "Tom would like to visit later, to clear things up, would that be OK by you?" Chakotay took a minute to answer, "I'd like that, yes I'd like that very much."
