It was good, Julian reflected, to have someone with whom the question of sex or romance never came up. A safe, confortable, solid rock kind of person whom you could never see yourself attracted to. Just a friend. Like Miles. He was lucky to have Miles. Though he had always been a popular lover, Julian had few close companions he did not want to shag. He could talk to Miles, and Miles would listen, and pat him on the back oh-so-manly, and they would both go home to their girlfriends and wives, sleeping beside them in silent horror of their hidden thoughts and wants and lusts.
