McCoy said as they enjoyed a quiet dinner in McCoy's quarters. They had been lovers for over a year now, so that wasn't the problem. "It is that I have something to say, but I don't know how." "Spock, you don't have to tell me you love me, I already know that. Besides you find ways of showing me every day." "That is not the problem." "Then what is it?" "Perhaps I should show you." He fiddled with something under the table. "I want you to close your eyes." "All right." He closed his eyes and waited for Spock to tell him to open them. "Open your eyes." Spock said after a moment. McCoy looked down at the table and saw a small, black box with two gold rings inside it. "Spock, you do know what rings like this mean in my culture?" He asked breathlessly. "Yes Leonard, I am asking you to marry me. You are my life, my love, my soulmate." McCoy had tears in his eyes by this time. He stood up and moved to Spock's side. He sat on Spock's lap, wrapping his arms around Spock's neck. "Yes Spock, I'll marry you." Spock bent his head down to tenderly kiss his McCoy. When they separated, McCoy spoke, "How will we tell Jim?" "He already knows I planned to ask you to marry me tonight." "How?" "I asked him for advice on how to propose to you." "What did he say about that?" "He said, 'It's about damn time you asked him.'" "He really said that?" McCoy said as they separated. "Do you doubt it?" Spock said as they stood. "Not at all." McCoy said as Spock gave his lover a peck on the cheek. "That's good." He said as he moved to McCoy's side, scooped him up and carried him to the bedroom. "Thank you Leonard," Spock said as he laid the man on the bed. "For what Spock?" "For not rejecting me. I thought you would." "Now why would I go and do a thing like that? We've been lovers for over a year now." "Still, there was the fear." "Spock, that's perfectly normal for someone to feel when proposing to someone else." "Are you certain of that?" "I'm certain of one thing. If you don't make love to me right now, I might just make you go back to your quarters." "You would not dare." Spock said as he sat on the bed. "No, because I know you'll do exactly what I want." "Exactly." Spock leaned down to kiss him, sliding his hands under McCoy's shirt as he did so. Spock gently pinched McCoy's nipples as he licked McCoy's lips. Every time McCoy opened his mouth to receive Spock's kiss, Spock pulled his tongue back in, teasing him. Finally, Spock sensed McCoy's growing annoyance and deepened the kiss. Spock loved to drive McCoy crazy by stoking McCoy's nipples with one or two fingers, then stroking his way down McCoy's body, twirling the slight fuzz around McCoy's navel before moving lower. At the slight touch, McCoy's hips arched involuntarily into Spock's hand. "Impatient, aren't we?" "Only for what I need" McCoy said while he grasped the bottom of Spock's shirt and tugged upward on it. Spock sat up and pulled his shirt off while McCoy did the same. While they were both sitting up, McCoy opened Spock's pants and freed his aching erection and gently started stroking it. To make things easier for McCoy, Spock got off the bed and quickly took off the rest of his clothes because he knew McCoy could be very impatient. This night was no exception as McCoy did the same thing before the both laid themselves back down on the bed. Mindlessly, they began stroking each other's bodies, always eager to explore the familiar territory of the other's body. An hour later, the two men were cuddling in the bed that had been warmed from their lovemaking. "I love you Spock." "The feeling is mutual." Spock said before both men fell asleep. The next morning, McCoy was looking like a teenager who had just gotten laid for the first time. At least until Spock came into McCoy's office looking very worried. "Spock, what's wrong?" McCoy asked as they sat down in chairs facing each other. "I was going over the list of people you want at the ceremony." "Is there something wrong with it?" "There is a person I'm not certain I want him invited." "Who?" "My father." "Why not? Of all the people to invite, he is one of the most important." "He will not approve of our bonding" "How do you know that?" Have you asked him? "I do not need to. I know him well enough to know what is opinion will be." "Have you even told your father about us?" When Spock didn't answer, McCoy answered for him. "I see you haven't. Spock, I wish I could invite my father, but you know I can't. If for no other reason, invite your father for me." "All right, I will." "Thank you Spock." Spock kissed him before leaving to his duties. Later that afternoon, Kirk stopped by with a small cut on his hand. As McCoy was cleaning and sealing the cut, Kirk hooked a small bit of gold chain that was peeking out of McCoy's shirt to reveal one of the gold rings on it. "I see he asked the question." McCoy blushed. "He did." "When's the big day?" Kirk asked as he let go of the ring. "A month from today. Spock and I want you to perform the Human half of the ceremony." "I'd be glad to. Where do you plan on having the ceremony?" "Since we're scheduled for a supply stop at Vulcan then, Spock and I decided to have it there. All done. Now stay out of trouble." "I'll try Doctor." Kirk said as he made his way to the door. "By the way, you might want to tuck that back into your shirt." McCoy hastily stuffed the ring back into his shirt though he knew there wouldn't ever be any trouble from his short appearance out of uniform. Three weeks later, the Enterprise entered orbit around Vulcan. "So Spock, when are your parents coming up?" Spock's silence gave McCoy an answer he wasn't looking for. "You haven't told them yet?" Spock just shook his head. "I'll tell them for you if you want me too." "No, just be there with me when I do" "Anything for you." " I know this must be painful for you, but it means a lot to me." Spock gently stroked McCoy's arm. "We'll make the call this evening from my quarters. That should give the both of us sufficient time to prepare." "You mean sufficient time to change your mind? We'll call here, now." Before Spock could say anything, McCoy flipped the switch that would put him in contact with the bridge. "Bridge, Uhura here." "Would you put that call through for me? Visual too please." "Will do Doctor. Just wait a few moments." She said before she closed the connection. "I see you had this planned." "It was the only way I could be certain you would call." "True." A moment later, Spock's parents appeared on the small screen in McCoy's office. "Spock! It's nice to see you!" Amanda exclaimed. "It is good to see you to Mother, Father." "So, find someone to marry yet?" Amanda teased. "Actually Mother, I have." Both sets of eyebrows on Spock's parents went up immediately. After a very brief silence, Amanda spoke. "So, who's the lucky one?" "An excellent choice." Sarek said after his wife's question. Amanda turned to face her husband. "Do you know something I don't know?" Without waiting for a response, she faced the view screen again. "Who is it Spock?" Spock just put his arm around McCoy and brought the happy man closer. "Spock, that's wonderful!" "You approve?" "Why shouldn't I? I'm just glad you found someone who will be as good to you as Dr. McCoy." "Though I am concerned about one thing." Sarek commented. "What is that father?" "Your mother and I did want grandchildren" "Men have babies all the time now." McCoy replied. "We've decided I'll carry the children." "That's wonderful news." Amanda replied. "Have you decided when and where yet?" "The date is one week from today, although we have not yet decided on a location." "Spock, why don't you have the wedding in our garden?" "An excellent idea Mother. Leonard, what do you think of the idea?" "I think its wonderful Spock." For the next hour, they discussed wedding plans before closing the connection. Both men visibly relaxed the moment they were alone. "See, that wasn't so bad now was it?" McCoy asked. "No, it was not." A week later, Spock found McCoy in their bathroom hunched up and curled around the toilet, noiselessly retching. Spock quickly slipped a small, white disk into McCoy's mouth. McCoy sucked on it a moment before chewing and swallowing. "What was that?" "A mint." "Thanks, it helped." "Are you ready?" "I just wish I'd decided to wear a tux instead of this damn dress uniform." Spock helped McCoy to his feet and opened the neck of McCoy's uniform. "Then wear it that way." "Thanks." An hour later McCoy and Spock were on Vulcan, in Spock's old bedroom making last minute adjustments to McCoy's uniform and Spock's Vulcan robes. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and Spock opened it. Kirk was standing there, wearing his own dress uniform. "Five minutes." He said before leaving again. "Ready Spock?" "Yes Leonard." Spock said as they walked out of the room, arm in arm. Just if front of the door that led to Amanda's garden, they stopped for a moment before Spock opened the door and they stepped outside. The garden was cool that evening and had been utterly transformed from the first time they had seen it a few days earlier. The rose bushes were in full bloom, the guests were dressed in their best, the non-Vulcans were smiling, some were even crying. Kirk, Spock's parents and a Vulcan Priestess were waiting in the gazebo that had been decorated with white and green ribbons and bows. Arm in arm, the two men walked down the aisle, neither one trying to hold back the joyful smiles each man was wearing. Once they were at the altar, the two men unlinked their arms and faced each other. The Priestess took McCoy's left hand and arranged his fingers in the proper pattern on Spock's face while Spock did the same to McCoy with his own right hand. Then the Priestess placed her own hands on their faced and chanted in English so everyone present would understand. "Never and always touching and touched." Inside the meld, the two men barely heard this. They were lost in the delight of exploring each other's mind, when the Priestess dropped her hands and separated each man's hand from the other's face. Both men experienced a sudden shock at the separation before the awareness of the other's presence grew in the backs of their minds. The Priestess stepped aside and Kirk took her place. "Since the days of ancient sailing ships, the privilege of joining two people in marriage has been a rare and honored one." "Now I believe that the two of you wished to recite your own vows. Leonard, you go first." * Leonard, what is this?! * Spock said through the new bond. * Spock, its an old human custom that two people often wrote their own vows. It's to show how much the other person means to them. * * That is what our bond is for. * * Now Spock, give it a chance. * * I would, but I have nothing written. * * Then make something up as I am saying mine. * * But... * * No buts about it, it's too late. Besides, I like it when you decide to be spontaneous. * * As you wish. * "Spock, when we first met, I thought you were the most stubborn man I had ever met. But as I got to know you better, I began to see what a beautiful person you are. Even though you rarely show how you feel on the outside, you have your ways of showing love, concern, the full range of emotions. Spock, I will love you for the rest of my life, you are the missing half of me that I have been searching for my entire life." He picked up Spock's hand and slid his ring onto his finger. "Leonard, At first I thought you were just another illogical human. You made me see that every person is different, each person unique in personality. You are often irrational and argumentative, but if you were not, you would be only half the man you are today and I do not believe that we would be standing here today." He picked up McCoy's hand and slid the ring onto his finger. "Your diverse personality is the whole reason I have asked you to be my bondmate and my husband." "Spock, do you take this man, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, to love honor and cherish as long as you both shall live?" Spock looked at the man in front of him. He had never thought this day would ever come. The day he married the man of his heart. "I do." "Leonard McCoy, do you take this man, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, to love honor and cherish as long as you both shall live?" Spoken through their bond, Spock already knew what McCoy would say. "I do." The two men turned once again to face Kirk. "Then by the powers that be, I now pronounce you officially married."
