Title: Sink the Bismark Author: Stephen Ratliff Series: DS9 Rating: [G] Codes: n/a Part: NEW 1/1 June '99 In May of 2373, the war had just begun. The Federation had the biggest ship, that had the biggest guns. The Bismark was the fastest ship that ever cruised the galaxy. On the decks were guns as big as steers and shells as big as trees "We must take care of the Bismark," Gul Dukat said as he reclined in his office on Deep Space Nine. (or as he called it Terok Nor) He tossed and fiddled with Sisko's baseball while Dumar and Weyoun looked up the ship. "Capable of high warp cruising speeds, long range plasma pulse gun, phased cloaking device, 850 meters long with triple shielding," Weyoun said. "I have no idea what it means, but it certainly sounds worrisome." "We can handle it," Dumar said. "After all we took this station." "With the loss of 50 ships, for one station," Weyoun said, cautioning. "You mean the most strategic piece of real estate in the Alpha Quadrant," Gul Dukat said. "Well worth the cost." "If you can bring down that mine field," Weyoun said. "As long as it exists our position here is vulnerable." "We'll bring it down," Dukat said, placing the baseball back in it's stand. "Mean while, assign the Sixth Order to hunt down the Bismark and reduce our vulnerability." Out of the cold and foggy space came the Cardie ship Herked And every Cardassian, he knew and recognized, They had to sink the Bismark, the terror of the galaxy Stop those guns as big as steers those shells as big as trees They found that Star Fleet Battleship that was making such a fuss We gotta sink the Bismark, folks, the Dominion 'pends on us. Hit the decks a running boys, And spin those guns around When we find the Bismark, we're going to cut her down "We've found the Bismark," the tactical officer announced. "They'll regret going this far into Cardassian Territory," Gul Dasat said. "Set a course to intercept, ready all weapons." "Incoming!" the tactical officer said. "Impossible," Gul Dasat said. The Cardassian bridge erupted in flames as the Bismark's fire hit the Cardassian ship. Gul Dasat found the Bismark, and on that fatal day, The Bismark started firing 15 miles away We gotta sink the Bismark was the battle sound. But when the smoke had cleared away, the mighty Gul went down Dukat paced in his office. "How hard can it be to destroy one ship operating behind our lines?" "The Herked was well outside firing range when she was destroyed," Damar said. "We lost the Bismark after the Herked was destroyed. But I'm sure Cardassia will find and destroy the Bismark." "I'm afraid that I do not share your confidence," Weyoun said. "You can't even get in range of this ship." "Every ship has a weakness," Dukat said. "We merely have to find it. Damar, put the seventh, tenth, and twelfth order on the search for the Bismark." For six long days and weary nights, they tried to find her trail Gul Dukat told the Jem'Hadar, put every ship a sail. Cause some where in our space, I know she's gotta be We gotta blow the Bismark out of the galaxy. They found that Star Fleet Battleship that was making such a fuss We gotta sink the Bismark, folks the Dominion 'pends on us. Hit the decks a running boys, And spin those guns around When we find the Bismark, we're going to cut her down The fog was gone the seventh day and they saw the morning sun Ten hours away from Cardassia, the Bismark made it's run. The Commander of the Dominion Fleet said turn those bows around We've found that Star Fleet Battle Ship and we're goin' cut her down "Fire all weapons!" The Cardie guns were aimed and the shells were coming fast The first shell hit the Bismark, they knew she couldn't last The mighty Star Fleet Battleship, is just a memory. Sink the Bismark was the battle cry that shook the Galaxy We found that Star Fleet Battleship making such a fuss We had to sink the Bismark, cause the Dominion 'pends on us Hit the decks a running boys, And spin those guns around We found that mighty Bismark, we cut her down. We found that Star Fleet Battleship making such a fuss We had to sink the Bismark, cause the Dominion 'pends on us "You're right, Glinn Gusat," Damar said. "Singing tunes like that does brighten a trying day. Your adaptation of that old Earth tune was most appropriate." "The name reminded me of the tune which I heard when I was stationed on the Stargazer," Gusat said. "I'm sure the tune will spread though out all of Cardassia," Damar said. "Now if you'll excuse me, perhaps a fresh mind will enable me to find a way to destroy these damn mines."
